That is how Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has allegedly described the aristocrat turned convicted fraudster George Cottrell. [The Guardian]

Cottrell was part of Farage's top team when the MP for Clacton was leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in the early 2010s. While Cottrell has no formal role in Reform UK, he has been regularly seen with Farage since Cottrell's release from prison in 2017. [BBC News]

Gambling

• Cottrell's gambling exploits reportedly include the suggestion that he lost £16 million on a single poker game in Montenegro earlier this year. [pokertube]

• Tether.bet reportedly ceased trading on August 12th 2026, and has been reported to the Gambling Commission by Women and Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson for operating in the UK, without the required license. [The Times] [The Guardian]
